What is so great about Tiny Houses?

Kamoka Camp has now been opened for more than 1 year and we are very proud to have welcomed already more than a 100 guests from all over the world! They have all fallen in love with our beautiful camp hidden in the bush. The tiny houses where a big hit indeed because they blend in so well with the environment. Our tiny houses are built in South Africa and are installed on iron poles to not disturb the environment. All of the furniture is also built in South Africa with local wood and materials. We have done our very best to ensure that we blend in as much as possible in the surrounding.

Tiny houses in the bush

Our guests were lucky enough this winter to see numerous visitors at our nearby dam. Both houses overlook the dam and zebras, giraffes, impalas, buffalos and even our eland like to go there for a drink. As the houses blend so well in the animals have gotten use to it and are coming very close to eat a few leaves from the trees nearby. A real treat for the eyes!

The tiny houses are equipped with a en-suite bathroom, kitchenette, private braai and even the aircon! However the latter can only be used for 1 up to 2 hours per day as we are running on solar energy. This at least enables our guests to have a nice and cool nap time while looking at the animals on the outside thanks to the big window. Due to their size, tiny houses are more energy-efficient. They require less power to heat, cool, and light, which is ideal in off-grid or eco-conscious environments like Kamoka, where reducing energy use is a priority.

Furthermore, tiny houses are often designed to have a smaller ecological footprint. They require fewer resources to build and maintain, which aligns with the ethos of conservation and sustainability found at places like Kamoka Camp. Indeed, our commitment to nature is at the core of our operations. Always making sure that we have very little impact on the environment that surrounds us.
