Exclusive responsible travel in South Africa

What if you could discover South Africa while making an impact on local communities?

Discover the Kamoka Bush Camp.

Imagine waking up every morning to the sound of wild animals roaming free in their natural habitat. That’s exactly what you’ll experience at Kamoka Bush Camp, nestled on the secret haven of Bona Ingwe Farm in South Africa. Here, you’ll find yourself surrounded by 600 hectares of unspoiled bush teeming with giraffes, leopards, buffaloes, and countless antelopes.

But it’s not just the wildlife that makes this place so special. Since 2006, the DAKTARI Bush School & Wildlife Orphanage has been a beacon of hope for environmental protection and wildlife education for local children. And now, with Kamoka Camp right next door, you have the chance to be a part of that mission.

This is no ordinary ecolodge. Kamoka Camp offers immersive and impactful holidays that are designed for responsible travelers who want to make a real difference. As a guest, you’ll have the opportunity to go behind the closed doors of the NGO world and see firsthand how your support is making a long-lasting impact on local communities.

If you’re in search of sustainable holidays that leave a positive mark on the world, Kamoka Camp is the perfect place for you. Come and experience the magic of South Africa while making a difference that will last a lifetime.

DAKTARI is not open to the public but only to sponsors and volunteers, the Kamoka Bush Camp offers an exclusive and new opportunity to discover the NGO world “from the inside” for responsible tourists.

KAMOKA means “all together” in Sepedi, the official language of the Limpopo Province in South Africa.

This project is about building a new concept for people from all over the world who are concerned by the environmental issues our world is facing. Kamoka camp offers the opportunity to work together to protect the fragile and threatened planet we live on.

Kamoka Camp is the promise that a new way of travelling and contributing is possible.

“We had a fantastic time at Kamoka camp. The scenery was absolutely beautiful and peaceful. (…) The tiny house exactly matched the pictures and Camilla was a great host. Additionally, Camilla showed us the work that she does for the NGO just around the corner of Kamoka camp, where wounded animals are being cared for and the local population is being taught about the animals, the environment and more.”

Responsible Travel Engagement

At Kamoka Camp, we take pride in our exclusive partnership with the DAKTARI Bush School & Wildlife Orphanage. This partnership enables us to provide responsible and ethical activities for our guests while positively impacting the local community. The trust and respect established by DAKTARI since 2006 with the surrounding villages have made it possible for us to offer activities that are done with respect for local customs and traditions.

We understand the importance of community involvement in decision-making processes. Therefore, we involve our local hosts in all aspects of responsible activities in the village. We do not make any assumptions and work towards building a better and fairer future for everyone. By working together with the local community, we ensure greater economic advantages and security for our hosts.

Our goal is to offer immersive and authentic responsible holidays for our guests. We want our guests to feel a sense of connection and closeness to their hosts that they have never experienced before. By bringing international tourists closer to local communities in a respectful and culturally sensitive way, we build confidence and pride in sharing and safeguarding local cultures.

At Kamoka Camp, we strive to offer our guests unique and meaningful experiences that contribute positively to the local community. We have a wide range of activities that enable our guests to connect with the local culture, environment and wildlife. From visiting the DAKTARI Bush School & Wildlife Orphanage to experiencing a traditional village tour, there is something for everyone.

We believe that responsible travel is not just a concept, but a way of life. Therefore, we ensure that our guests have a positive impact on the environment and the community during their stay with us. We encourage our guests to travel sustainably, to reduce their carbon footprint and to support local businesses.

We had an amazing time at the camp. It was quiet, restful and a wonderful getaway from every day busy life. We managed to see all the wildlife at the waterhole. The tiny house was clean and comfortable. Thank you Camilla for your excellent service and quick response when we required your help. Thank you for taking us round DAKTARI, it was interesting to see the footprint made in the local community and wildlife. We hope to be back soon.

We had a really wonderful time at Camillas Kamoka Camp in July 2024. The bright and lovely new lodge is best suited for spending an exciting and also relaxing time. It faces a great view of a little pond where we were lucky watching some impalas drinking in the early morning. once in the late afternoon we spotted a group of buffaloes. Its also a great location for starting exciting game drives in big five reserves in the direct neighbourhood. The comfortable veranda with braai possibility is a wonderful chilling place. In general this practical and pretty furnished lodge is a welldone choice for a really memorable stay in the bush. Camilla is a very friendly and attentive host and gives every information needed. During our next trip to the South African bush we will certainly again book a stay at Kamoka Camp.

Immer wieder!!! Danke, das wir eure Gäste sein durften!

Kamoka Camp is a real gem in the middle of the bush. This is the perfect place to disconnect and recharge, while learning about the non-profit organization next door, DAKTARI. We were given a tour of DAKTARI and understood the importance of environmental education to underprivileged children from the neighbouring communities. We were given the opportunity to discover wonderful stories about the work they do and how everything started. Camilla, our host, was very attentive and made sure our stay was unforgettable. We were greeted by giraffes drinking in the dam facing our tiny house, and spent evening hearing bufffaloes going for a drink. The tiny house was lovely especially the outdoor veranda where you can spend hours reading a book or sitting by the fire at night. I highly recommend staying there, it's a very special place!

Kamoka Camp is such a unique stay. I love that each tiny house is fully self-sustainable. Camilla really fully immersed us in eco-tourism with a tour of Daktari - an NGO focusing on eco-education as well as a wildlife orphanage. We honestly enjoyed our stayed and will definitely be returning for a longer one soon! Thank you, Camilla, for being such a communicative and accommodating host!
