About Us

Meet Camilla, our founder!

Hey there, I’m Camilla, the founder of Kamoka Camp. My heart beats with a passion for Africa since my childhood in Morocco. My curiosity for the continent grew as I studied International Development in England and traveled around the world. But it was in the NGO world where I found my true calling, driven by a deep desire to create a better future for all.

With boundless energy and unyielding enthusiasm, I’m determined to protect our planet’s natural heritage through education. I know that it’s only through learning that we can build a better, more sustainable future for ourselves and our planet. For me, barriers are meant to be broken down, and I strive to create a space where people can come together on equal footing for the good of the environment.

Kamoka Bush Camp is my promise that a new way of traveling is possible for all. It’s a place where responsible tourism isn’t just a buzzword, but a way of life. A place where visitors and locals can work together to create positive change and leave a lasting impact. With my passion and dedication, Kamoka Camp is more than just a destination; it’s a movement towards a brighter future for us all.

DAKTARI Bush School & Wildlife Orphanage

The Kamoka Bush Camp is located only a few minutes walk from the NGO DAKTARI Bush School & Wildlife Orphanage. This NGO has been established for over 15 years and specialises in environmental education through the medium of a wildlife orphanage.

Each week, DAKTARI welcomes groups of children from the surrounding villages and teaches them about the protection of the environment. International volunteers teach the lessons and guide the children in caring for the animals of the wildlife centre (Please note that all animals in captivity at DAKTARI are animals that are unable to return to the wild for various reasons). The local community highly trusts and respects the work that DAKTARI is doing. The Bush School has welcomed more than 4 000 children from the region.

A strong partnership

The partnership between Kamoka Bush Camp and DAKTARI is an inspiring example of how one non-profit organization and a business with a shared vision can come together to create positive change. Camilla’s passion for environmental education, coupled with her close relationship with the founders of DAKTARI, has led to a collaboration that is truly special. The partnership allows both organizations to have a greater impact on the local community and to promote responsible and sustainable tourism in South Africa.

Through this partnership, Kamoka Bush Camp and DAKTARI have created a new model for NGOs in South Africa, one that is built on trust, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to environmental education. By working together, they are able to share their knowledge and resources, and to create a more sustainable future for all.
